Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Westchester County: What to Know First

Gelco chimney liner and rebuild work in Westchester County runs anywhere from $1,800 for a straight stainless liner swap to $7,500+ for a full flue rebuild with masonry repairs. We’re an independent Gelco service provider, which means we repair and replace these systems without being tied to the manufacturer’s playbook or its parts pricing. Most Gelco liner jobs take one day, and every estimate is free before a single tool comes off the truck.

If you own a Gelco liner or firebox and something’s not right, you’re probably reading this because a sweep somewhere told you some version of “it’s gone.” Maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t. That’s exactly what we sort out, with camera footage and a plain-English verdict every time, no exceptions. Call (914) 537-6479 and talk to a live person. It may well be Wendell himself picking up.

How Gelco Products Fail, and How We Fix Them

  • Gelco 316L flexible liners: seam fatigue at the bend points. Most Westchester County homes with Gelco flex liners run them through offset flues, and that’s where the trouble starts. The corrugations work hard at the top offset, and after eight to twelve winters of heating and cooling cycles, hairline splits open up. You won’t see it from the firebox. The camera does. If the split is in a straight run, we can often sleeve it. If it’s at an offset, the liner gets replaced.
  • Gelco rigid stainless sections: failed joints between fixed lengths. Rigid Gelco liners behave differently than flex. The sections themselves hold up, but the locking joints where they meet can pull apart if the original install didn’t account for chimney settlement. In older Westchester County masonry chimneys, especially stonework up near the Teatown Lake Reservation area, that movement is real. We pull the liner, inspect each joint, and either reseat the run or replace the compromised section.
  • Gelco firebox panels: refractory panel cracking. Gelco fireboxes used in a lot of mid-2000s Westchester remodels came with refractory side and back panels. They crack, usually within five to seven years of steady burning. The crack itself isn’t always a reprieve, but if the panel has shifted and you can see the steel shell behind it, it is. We replace panels in place when the shell’s intact, which costs a fraction of a full firebox rebuild.
  • Gelco caps and termination: wind-driven rain entry. This one sounds small, but it accounts for a solid portion of our Gelco service calls. The termination cap design on older Gelco liner kits lets driving rain in from the north and northeast, during the exact storms that hammer Westchester County in November and March. That wetness sits in the flue, rusts the liner from the inside, and you get flaking metal in the firebox. We swap in a properly sized cap with a taller shroud, and we check the crown while we’re up there.
  • Gelco chimney rebuilds: weakened mortar beds and spalling brick. Full rebuilds are usually a masonry problem, not a liner problem. Homes in places like Croton-on-Hudson and Yorktown Heights have chimneys that were built in the 1940s and 1950s, and the mortar has given up. When the chimney structure moves, no liner survives it. We rebuild the stack to current NFPA 211 standard, which gives your Gelco system a stable foundation and another 40 to 50 years.

Our Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process

  1. 1
The call. A live person answers. We ask what’s happening, what brand you’re running, and what the last sweep said. Wendell or one of his crew gives you a real arrival window.
  2. 2
The inspection. We run a camera down the entire flue. The footage doesn’t lie, and every verdict comes with the video and a plain-English explanation of what we’re seeing. If it doesn’t need doing, we’ll tell you that too.
  3. 3
The parts decision. We use Gelco parts when a repair calls for OEM fit and warranty-safe work. We’ll also tell you plainly whether an equivalent part does the same job for less money. No mystery markup.
  4. 4
The fix. Liner repair, liner replacement, partial rebuild, or full reconstruction. You get upfront pricing before any work starts, and the number on the phone is the number on the invoice.
  5. 5
The test. We fire the system, check the draft, and make sure it’s breathing the way it should.
  6. 6
The promise. Every Gelco job gets our 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If something’s not right, one call brings us back at no additional cost.

What Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Costs in Westchester County

Here’s what we typically see. Your chimney, your liner, your exact condition will dictate the final number, and you’ll know it before any work begins.

  • Gelco flex liner replacement (single story, straight run): $1,800-$2,600
  • Gelco rigid liner replacement with joint reseating: $2,200-$3,400
  • Gelco firebox panel replacement: $900-$1,800
  • Partial chimney rebuild (above roofline, brick and mortar): $3,500-$6,000
  • Full Gelco flue rebuild with new liner and masonry: $6,500-$9,500

What moves the price: roof height, flue offsets, how much masonry needs rebuilding, and whether your existing liner is repairable or must be replaced. We always tell you the cheapest safe fix first, never the most expensive one we can justify. Call (914) 537-6479 for a free estimate on any Gelco chimney liner or rebuild in Westchester County.

Why Westchester County Homeowners Call Top Hat Chimney for Gelco Work

Wendell Pike and his crew have been working chimneys across Westchester County since 1999, long enough to know which neighborhoods have the fussiest flues and which ones see the hardest freeze-thaw cycles. We carry Gelco parts alongside DuraFlex and HeatShield, so if your system needs a liner but Gelco’s isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you that too, not just sell you the name on the plate. Every technician is background-checked and in uniform, and every completed job gets the 90-Day Done Right Promise stamped on the invoice. If it’s not right, one call brings us back.
